McMaster University wins Ontario Adult Invitational Cup

Congratulations to McMaster for achieving their first OAIC Gold in their inaugural entry in the event.  Their start was slow but the team managed to pull together to secure a top four finish out of 12 teams in the Open ‘BB’ division.  With a round robin record of 2-1-1 they finished in 4th place and lined up for a semi-final game against #1 Caledonia.  McMaster rallied despite early deep penalty trouble to down Caledonia 5-3 for the right to go for Gold, but lost outstanding goalie Quantrill in the process to a hip injury.  Meeting Pickering in the final with a substitute goalie in Alex Farmer (thanks Alex), McMaster game back from a 2-0 deficit to win 5-3 with full team effort and confidence they could prevail.
The coaches are extremely proud how well the team played together, disciplined and a belief in themselves with as little game and practice time we had together as a team.  Well done ladies, and let’s do this again next season.
Team members:  Jenny Sage, Kendra Wait, Hillary Quantrill, Ciara Levely, Amelia Savoie, Kelly Long, Melanie Gascoine, Rebecca Lariviere, Madison Vickers, Taylor Blatchley, Torie Frisina, Shay Armstrong.  Additional members are Tracey Neufeld, Megan Levesque, Melissa Davies
